Dear Marvel,
Please do not let Carol Danvers become another Rogue. No more quiet, unassuming actresses playing characters with big personalities and even bigger presence. Carol has this larger than life joie de vie thing going for her that in all the movies I have seen with Emily Blunt, she most likely can’t emulate. Ruth can do big personality but she has this frenetic edge that would make her a better Harley Quinn that Carol anyday.
They need an actress like Jaime Alexander who isn’t as well-known and has this carefree and warmth that is needed for characters like Carol. Sif in the comics is fairly dull due to neglect and Jaime took Sif and said hey she loves being a warrior, I’m going to show her loving her life as a warrior. In a lot of ways that is Carol so I really hope Marvel find someone unknown and ready to make Carol her own.
While I’m not sure that Emily Blunt is right for the role, she nonetheless is a very talented artist with a wide range of acting abilities. For the larger than life joie de vie thing, check out her film “Wild Target.” She’s fantastic in that. (And it’s got a ton of other talent in it, plus it’s just a fun ride.)
