Writer, seamstress and artist. This blog is dedicated to entertaining those who enjoy good stories and laughter.

Generally I post or reblog intriguing, original or very humorous pictures, gifs and thoughts regarding the following fandoms:

X-Men, Once Upon a Time, Doctor Who, Jane Austen, Firefly, Harry Potter, Downton Abbey, etc.

I try to stay away from controversial subjects, although I will reblog occasional posts relating to the treatment of women, or the Pro-Life movement, if it presents information in a new and thought-provoking way.

As a writer and seamstress, I'll also include posts related to these areas of creativity.

Emma Frost and Days of Future Past

January Jones has recently stated that she doesn’t know if she’ll be back for the sequel to X-Men: First Class, and of course this has related corner of the internet in a tizzy. But is it really time to worry/rejoice?

I don’t think so. She herself said that she didn’t get the first script until she was en route to filming. There’s still plenty of time for her to get contacted - several other key players have yet to state anything like official involvement, and we’re certainly expecting some of them to appear, otherwise there won’t be much of a movie. (Okay, some could watch young and old Charles and Erik banter for quite awhile, but let’s face it, that wouldn’t make for a blockbuster movie).

I think, considering the set-up in Emma’s last scene of First Class, that it would be extremely strange and poor planning for her not to appear in the sequel at all. Of course, there’s been some changes in the director’s chair, so we may loose some continuity there, but still, I would be extremely surprised if we didn’t see Emma in the next film.

Plus, there’s another possibility, and that is that they may be thinking of recasting Emma. No offense to Jones (who has certainly earned a name for herself on Mad Men), but she did not seem to fit the shoes of the unflappable diamond telepath. I for one have been hoping since the film came out that they’d recast for a sequel - or at least drastically amp up her character.

clawfoottub:

Sure she likes being fabulous, but I like to think that sometimes Emma Frost just projects her outfits and wears something practical instead.
I’m not happy with her face in the projection and the composition could be a lot better, but eh.

This would make so much sense, it’s not even funny. Corsets that actually give support and hold up in fights are NOT comfortable, particularly on extremely curvy women.

So the other day I picked up “Phoenix - Warsong”

First off, Huzzah! This is one of the trade paperbacks I’ve been looking for for awhile. So yay!

Secondly… as I finish the last few pages, there is a very dramatic quote from Emma, about how the Phoenix (SPOILERS? MAYBE??) killed her daughters and when it comes back, it will have to deal with her, Emma.

Welp. It’s back. And Emma is one of the hosts.

Listen. If there is one thing writing Marvel fanfic and roleplay has taught me, it is to have compassion on the poor writers and editors who have to try and maintain that continutity. It’s crazy. It’s insane. I feel bad for them.

BUT. It seems like a logical thing to do when writing Avengers vs. X-Men would be to go back and study all of the most recent Phoenix stories to see what ends need tying up. Like look at Quire’s involvement, and Rachel’s, and the Shiar guy (what’shisnameagain). And definitely absolutely read the two series with the Phoenix name actually ON them, “Endsong” and “Warsong.”

Seriously. You can’t have Emma make a threat like that and then forget it ever happened when the Phoenix finally does return.

Marvel, I love you. I’ll cut you a lot of slack on a lot of things. But I loved “Warsong” and have been waiting for years to see more resolved with Emma and the Cuckoos and her thousand daughters. I’m really disappointed that this hasn’t been addressed at all in AVX. :(

AVX: A Shocking Conclusion!

wearetheheroes:

This is what happens when you don’t listen; when you put all your eggs in one basket; when you try to be God; when you lose faith. This is what happens when everything you’ve been fighting for goes horrifically wrong.

“The gift of the phoenix was meant for her, not us. You people, did something to it. And now we are the phoenix.”

As you can see the Phoenix Force did not end up where we all expected. But I would be lying if I said, “I did not see this coming.” Not to sound as if AVX and the creators at Marvel are predictable, because as far as AVX goes they’re definitely not. But as one who always considers all the possibilities in a situation such as this one, it comes to no surprise that this has happen. To make things clear, I am not happy about this, even as an X-Man. Since the birth of Hope Summers the Phoenix has been hinted as her destiny. Prophecies were made in her name, her very powers toyed with the possibilities of the future she could bring. Sides were chosen, sacrifices where made, lives were lost and all to  keep her alive. Since Avengers Vs. X-Men  #1 the Scarlet Witch has been absent, only making a single appearance as some sort of prophet; hinting that she knows how all of this will pan out. That what happened in House of M was meant to avoid this very future. But there have been many before her who have seen the future, those who are more wise and disciplined in the nature of precognition. What did the Scarlet Witch see that caused her to change the world the first time? Did Cable return from the future (his death) for nothing? Could what Bishop claimed to be the end of the world as we know it be starting now? What does this mean for Hope? Has her life as the Mutant Messiah been all for nothing? All of these questions can and will be answered by the end of Avengers Vs. X-Men event. But who will answer them?

I’ll admit I did not see this coming at all, and I’m glad of it. I seriously did not know how they were going to bring anything new to the Phoenix mythos.

Still, I think it WILL end up in Hope eventually. They made a big deal of saying they were going to prepare her to be able to host it, so I think it’ll still come.

Totally other note, the Phoenix costumes! I think Emma looks rather horrid, but Scott looks pretty snazzy!
