Writer, seamstress and artist. This blog is dedicated to entertaining those who enjoy good stories and laughter.

Generally I post or reblog intriguing, original or very humorous pictures, gifs and thoughts regarding the following fandoms:

X-Men, Once Upon a Time, Doctor Who, Jane Austen, Firefly, Harry Potter, Downton Abbey, etc.

I try to stay away from controversial subjects, although I will reblog occasional posts relating to the treatment of women, or the Pro-Life movement, if it presents information in a new and thought-provoking way.

As a writer and seamstress, I'll also include posts related to these areas of creativity.

Thoughts on All New X-Men

isitsummersalready:

I havent read issue #5 yet but so far the series is good. i have ONE complaint tho. honestly? r all the xmen RLY pissed at scott? Okay so Xavier has died like a million times before so i refuse to believe he’ll even stay dead for a whole year. secondly, the original xmen really have no right to be this judgmental towards young scott i mean Jean grey turned evil too when she ate a planet as Dark Phoenix and Warren turned into Archangel and was one of Apocalypse’s horsemen. Hope issue 5 touches on some of that

It didn’t really… but I have to agree with you. When Xavier died, and everyone gave Scott so much crap, I was just like… “he’s died before. Multiple times. And Scott wasn’t himself. And you still loved Jean after she went through Dark Phoenix. C’mon, guys…”

But otherwise, All New X-Men ROCKS.

My Thoughts on AvX 12
Here Be Spoilers.
Scarlet Witch is essentially an avatar of Chaos Magic. In House of M, she declares, “No More Mutants” and wipes out most of the mutant population. In AvX 12, we learn that the Chaos Magic is the Yin to the Yang of the Phoenix Force. We also learn that when Wanda said “No More Mutants”, the Phoenix Force said, “Screw That. MORE MUTANTS!”
This presents some PRETTY big issues for me with AvX’s conclusion.
When the Phoenix Force leaves Scott, Wanda tells Hope not to look… but Hope does anyway, and takes on the aspect of Phoenix, and flies off and starts doing good. Hope comes back after repairing all the damage that Dark Phoenix caused, and declares that she is the Phoenix, and that she can be a White Phoenix and not fall to corruption. She IS the savior that Scott believed she was.
Leaving things this way seems fine. Both Chaos & Phoenix would have an avatar, and each force would serve as a check and balance to the other…
…But this doesn’t stay that way.
Wanda looks absolutely pissed, and tells Hope that this isn’t what she’s here for. She tells her to stop playing god, and then together they banish the Phoenix Force by simultaneously declaring, “No More Phoenix” which shatters the Phoenix Force across the planet, and begins creating mutants everywhere.
So to be clear, Wanda did the following:• Stripped >99% of the mutant population of their powers.• This created a vacuum of power that drew the Phoenix Force to Earth.
This means that this entire series of events is BECAUSE of Wanda’s actions, and the Phoenix Force responding to restore that balance. However, with all of the explicit explanation of the balance between the two forces, WANDA DOESN’T RECIPROCATE the “No More ____” by also sacrificing her own powers.
…Why?
Scarlet Witch’s actions are the cause of THIS ENTIRE EVENT. She LITERALLY drew the Phoenix Force to Earth. The ending seems like a happy reversal of House of M, but really what happened here is that the mutant population returned to the status quo, and Wanda managed to destroy one of the most powerful cosmic entities in the universe, and by doing so, ALSO eliminate the ONLY force that’s supposed to keep her own powers in check.
On TOP of that, she’s still being protected by the Avengers, while Cyclops is being treated like some terible supervillian - which he’s not. Stark’s analysis of the Phoenix Force’s Powers shows this interactive relationship, and Hope’s brief presence as the host of the Phoenix Force prove that Scott was right about both points.
He tried his best to salvage things after the Avengers forcibly tried to abduct Hope without negotiation. He also kept things together after the Avengers broke the Phoenix Force, causing it to posses the Phoenix Five. The Phoenix Five manage to perform INCREDIBLE feats to bring peace and prosperity to the world (Pax Utopia), before they start falling to its dark influences.
What’s even more surprising is that Scott ISN’T being allowed to take responsibility for the other 4’s actions as the Phoenix Five, so he’s not responsible for their crimes…
So what’s he being imprisoned for?
While he was in control of his mental faculties, he was constantly the voice of reason, and ensured that the others didn’t take lethal action against the Avengers, or NONE of them would still be standing. He even SAVED Hawkeye, who later shoots him in the back of the skull. Nothing he did as a member of the Phoenix Five that I can think of would justify his completely over the top Ruby Prison.
The only thing he certainly IS guilty of is killed Charles Xavier - which he didn’t do willingly. He had every single group he depended on and trusted turn their backs on him, and everything that he did to mentally protect himself against falling to the Dark Phoenix had been systematically chipped away, until he was left badgered into a corner mentally, while almost every force on Earth was trying to murder him, and his retaliation brought him to tears, and made him lose the last bit of control that he had over Phoenix’s influence. I’m pretty sure that he’d be able to rely on self defense and possible insanity in almost any court.
…So why the hell is Scott Summers being detained in a crazy maximum security prison, and while Wanda Maximoff is being treated like she’s completely innocent?
All I have to say right now is that this had fucking better be addressed in AvX Consequences.

They’ve already addressed it, actually. Check out the excellent “Young Avengers: The Children’s Crusade.” This is all about Wanda Maximoff reclaiming her mind and her powers - but /not/ the extreme powers that allowed her to wipe out mutants. If she still had those powers she probably could have kept the Phoenix from coming back to earth in the first place.
Anyhow, when she got her powers back, her first goal was to restore as many mutants as she could, and she did manage to restore Rictor’s (of X-Factor) before her power gave out, and the X-Men and Avengers showed up to mete out justice.
